Lou who just turned 77, recently moved to Arcadia Park from her previous three-bedroom home. She had been living just two streets away but found it increasingly difficult to manage the stairs in her old house. When she saw the new build at Arcadia Park, she instantly fell in love with it. Lou has always been very interested in the design of buildings, and the quirkiness of the open plan kitchen lounge in her new home immediately caught her eye.
“I loved it instantly” Lou said, “the lounge is huge compared to typical flats, and the kitchen is beautifully designed. I also love being on the ground floor, which makes it much easier for me to get around.”

One of the highlights for Lou has been the sense of community at Arcadia Park. She already knows everyone on a first-name basis and has found the people around her to be incredibly friendly and supportive. Abbey New Homes organised a “meet the neighbours” event, which Lou found to be a fabulous idea. She met many of her new neighbours, including Ian and Nev, the site managers, who have gone above and beyond to make her feel welcome.
Lou mentioned, “Nev is the best person ever; he goes the extra mile for everyone and has sorted everything out for me… The salespeople have also been wonderful, and everyone turned out to be so nice.”
Another significant factor in Lou’s decision to move to Arcadia Park was its proximity to her daughter, who lives just a few streets away. Lou sees her daughter every day, which has been a great comfort to her. The local area also offers all the amenities she needs, including shops, a café, a pizza place, a fish and chip shop, and a chemist – all within walking distance.
Lou has been pleasantly surprised by how much she enjoys her new home. Both of the bedrooms have been fully fitted out, and any issues have been rectified. She has enjoyed painting the rooms and making the space her own. As the oldest member of the development, Lou feels well looked after by her neighbours.

She proudly stated, “Everyone says ‘wow’ when they come into my house. The bathroom is massive, and the kitchen is beautiful!”
Upon moving in, Lou was delighted by the warm welcome she received from her new community. The thoughtful gestures and the friendly atmosphere have made her transition to Arcadia Park a truly delightful experience.
