Building a Positive Mental Health Culture

How much do we all know about Mental Health Awareness Week and what it achieves? Each year, this annual event offers the opportunity for the whole of the UK to focus on achieving good mental health.

This year, from the 9th to the 15th May, the aim is to raise public and professional awareness of mental illness. For 2022, the theme is loneliness and with recent events forcing our bedrooms, kitchens and dining tables to be transformed into offices and classrooms, and two-metre gaps feeling like a world apart, it’s never been more important to address the subject.

Gardens and local parks became the place to be making us realise creating spaces that make you happy, being with people you love and just connecting with nature enable us to cope with whatever challenges we are faced with in life.

Abbey New Homes were honoured to support StrongMen, a charity close to our hearts, and get behind their fantastic April 2022 ‘Weekender Retreat’.

Dan and Efrem, Founders of the charity commented, “We’ve had an amazing time this month at our latest Weekender hosted in Snowdonia National Park. Our event has proved itself hugely successful once again! Our professional team worked particularly hard this time in challenging conditions, sponsored by Abbey New Homes we really could not run these events without them. Interest in our unique wellbeing talks has also been high this month with the return of many face to face events which is great.”

The aim of StrongMen is to support men and their families following a bereavement and help them understand the positivity of life.
