The designated area encompassed almost
22,000 acres in north Buckinghamshire in the SE of England
and the city itself is named after one of the villages in
this original designated area of the new "city" of Milton
Keynes.
Nowadays, Milton Keynes is a shopper’s
paradise and the city centre is dominated by thecentre:mk,
one of Europe's longest shopping centres, about half a mile
in length, offering over 230 shops. A range of smaller shops
offering a more traditional shopping atmosphere can also be
found in the nearby older towns of Stony Stratford, Newport
Pagnell, Bletchley and Woburn Sands. Milton Keynes is also
home to the hub:mk - a thriving business and leisure
development of offices, apartments, hotels, shopping, cafes,
bars and restaurants in the heart of the city.
For leisure pursuits, the list is
endless. You can play nearly every type of sport in Milton
Keynes - athletics, fishing, archery, fencing, football,
rugby, martial arts, karting and extreme sports like
wakeboarding, rock climbing and skiing. The cycling in
Milton Keynes is second-to-none, with a network of cycle
ways boasting beautiful landscape and scenery.

centre, combining Europe's largest indoor 'real snow'
ski slope, indoor rock climbing wall, 16 screen cinema

Greenways @ Broughton Farm is ideally
situated close to the centre of Milton Keynes with its
excellent links to the M1 motorway, railway network and
coach routes. National Rail operate a regular service into
London Euston. The closest airport to Milton Keynes is Luton
and Virgin operate a bus service to the airport regularly
from CMK with buses running once an hour.
A unique road system was
designed to avoid rush-hour congestion and a system of
linear parks based on the river valleys added to the overall
effect. As a result, there's nowhere quite like Milton
Keynes in England.
