The nearby quaint smugglers town of Deal has some of the best coastal waters for sea angling in England and fishermen's boats can often be seen drawn up on the foreshore. Sandwich, one of the best preserved medieval towns in England, is further up the coast. It used to be a major port and is still one of the principle Cinque Ports.
Archer's Place is conveniently situated for the surrounding amenities. A Tesco superstore is located within half a mile and there is also a village hall, general store, post office and popular county primary school in Whitfield. Dover has a further selection of schools, including both boys and girls grammar schools and the prestigious Dover College.
Just under thirteen miles away is the historic cathedral city of Canterbury which has excellent shopping facilities, bars and restaurants. Dover also has a good range of shops, including the Charlton Centre and De Bradelei Wharf; a designer outlet. The development is in a prime location, with an excellent travel network within a mile. The A2/M2 dual carriageway and A20, which leads to the M20, are both easily accessible from the site. The Channel Tunnel is just twelve miles away at Folkestone. The area also has the shortest routes by ferry or hovercraft to Europe. Travellers by rail have a choice of stations; Kearsney and Dover Priory offer a direct link to London Victoria, whilst Dover Priory also has a direct service to London Charing Cross.
