Hampton Vale - a vibrant new neighbourhood with it's own excellent amenities
Cumberland Place offers stylish living in Hampton Vale, one of four new neighbourhoods that comprise Peterborough’s fourth
township, known as Hampton. In the past few years, Hampton Vale has matured into a buzzy, friendly place with excellent
amenities and plenty going on for everyone.
Hampton is situated just south of the city on the A1(M), making travel to most parts of the UK relatively easy. The township is
approximately five miles from the city centre, from which trains to London King’s Cross average just under an hour. London is about 80 miles away, and by car Stansted and Luton airports are each just over an hour away, Heathrow slightly under 2 hours, and Gatwick about 2 hours 20 minutes. The extensive bus network includes a Busway service (which runs partly on old railway routes) to Cambridge.
Progressive thinking and sympathetic planning have come together at Hampton, where neighbourhood shopping centres
include ‘corner shops’ and family eateries, within an overall scheme that provides new schools, health care, a major
supermarket, fashion outlets and best of all, acres of open green space with lakes and a nature reserve. Hampton comprises some 2,500 acres, of which about half is public open space. Experts from Natural England have cited The Hamptons as an example of how to successfully integrate new homes into the landscape, and as builders of an earlier phase, Abbey Homes have contributed to this achievement.
Cumberland Place in Hampton Vale is convenient for family-friendly eateries, the waterside Moorhen and a Toby Inn.
Hampton Vale primary school is within easy reach, and there are several other schools for all ages within about a mile. These include Hampton College for 4-18 year-olds.
Hampton Vale community centre hosts clubs and activities for all ages, while opposite there are two general stores, a chemist
